One of Hobart’s most popular surf breaks, in close vicinity to the city, only a 30min drive away. At the southern end of the beach there are softer peaks protected from the westerly winds and good on a S/SE swell. There is more power in the waves further up the beach where the sandbanks are flanked with channels that give ease to a heavy paddle out. Good on the bigger days but can be messy, small and gutless on a wind swell and onshore conditions. A patrolled beach that is good for beginners but always crowded even if its not great.
