Surf Spot
Coolum Beach is an open stretch that ends in a left hand point break and continues round into rockier bays. A stretch of beach break and a right hand point (Point Perry) is open to swell and protected a little more in the pocket from a SE wind. Offshore and clean on a SW or WSW wind there are a few peaky breaks that roll all the wave from an outer bank into shore. In a big swell the point holds a big swell.. up to 8ft+. Shifting peaks break all along the beach and always depend on the sand banks that shift throughout the year. The bays round the corner often offer more protection from cross and onshore winds, however, can be a little rockier and hard to access on a higher tide.
