Some great long lefts off the Northern point with peaky beaches all the way down to the southern end. Narrabeen has very consistent sand banks due to the river outflows from Narrabeen Lagoon, making it one of Sydney’s most reliable waves. These right handers off into the channel can have some power and are mainly for the more experienced surfers. The lefts off the point work best on a NE or E ground swell, wrapping round the point on a NW or NE wind with barrels roll along the point on the low tide towards the rights where it peaks into a hollow thundering shore break. It can be a very competitive break, where most experienced surfers go, you will need to fight for your wave from both the old-timers and the up and coming grommets. Often the further south is more wind affected and has poorer quality waves. If you are a beginner steer clear, however, for those after a thrilling wave, Narrabeen has a brut power that can surprise even the most experienced surfers on a good day.
