One of the world’s most iconic waves due to its shear gnarliness. A great tow-in wave on the bigger swells, only the most experienced surfers will charge here. Characterised by a granite ledge that causes the swell to abruptly peak up from the deep and curl over the uneven reef seabed. You don’t want to fall off here either because just a few meters away is a boulder piled headland. A heavy wave even on the small days, Shipstern’s features below sea level surges, huge steps that well up on the open face and create secondary barrels in the wave. Ultimately a tow-in break where you’ll want to be whipped in and strapped in.
