Owen Cavanagh, renowned local mural and airbrush artist, has once again successfully curated the fourth Sunshine Coast ‘Surf Art Expo’. This year’s expo was held for the first time in Noosa and hosted by Noosa Surf Works. The entry fee was by gold coin donation and all proceeds were donated to the local Wishlist Foundation and Surfrider Foundation.
Over 30 local artists were featured along with a series of live art demonstrations including Chainsaw Sculptor Shane Christensen, Timber Stain Artist David Hardy, Surfboard Shapers Tully St John & Andrew Warhurst, Airbrush Artist Rod Tickle and Surf Mural Artist Owen Cavanagh. With over $20,000 worth of local art sold the expo was branded a huge success.

Competitions were held for the best surf wagon, van or bike as well as art competitions for the kids. Everyone enjoyed the community vibe as they mingled and browsed the artist’s gallery and stalls. Vendors provided tasty food and great coffee, with Noosa Board Riders Club hosting a fundraising pop up bar. Live entertainment by talented local band ‘Unknowns’ had the crowd rocking on Saturday night. It was great to see the local surf community come together and proudly support this great event.
